A huge misconception when going sugar-free is that you have to give up chocolate! Not at all! What’s more, we can still enjoy popular, traditional goodies in a bit healthier way by finding healthy, sugar-free or naturally sweetened chocolate products. We’ve been eating a lot of chocolate this week so we wanted to share one of our favorite easy, chocolate recipes.
I love chocolate and puff pastry together. Our mother would make treats like this for us when we were growing up and I think it’s just another fabulous way of the french! Light flaky pastry pairs incredibly well with rich dark chocolate. Warm from the oven and all melty is awesome way to enjoy chocolate! Make them with extra dark chocolate for a simple rich dessert.
For valentines, I love how they resemble little love notes, don’t you? These sweet little packages will make another delightful treat this holiday!
Chocolate Puff Pastries
1 sheet frozen Puff Pastry, thawed
4 ounces sugar free Dark Chocolate or about 1 Tablespoon chocolate per square
Let puff pastry sheet thaw according to packages directions. Lay sheet flat out and cut into 9 equal squares. Lay a square of chocolate in the center of each square. Fold all corners of square over the chocolate. Corners should meet in the center. Press gently together so corners stick together. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Let cool and serve.
