Today is an amazing day for Root Beer Floats! How do we know? Because it’s a warm holiday weekend and cause any summer weekend is good for floats.
How can we share a recipe for a typical sugar-filled, chemical-induced soda treat and call it healthy? That’s the great surprise with this recipe. Not only do we have a healthy soda replacement, but it’s easy to get your hands on it! We used naturally sweetened Zevia Root Beer! We love this product and it makes this recipe a breeze to whip up.
Have you tried Zevia sodas yet? They have a wide variety of flavor options and the Ginger Root Beer flavor is pretty great! No matter how you feel about natural sodas, we’ve found the best way to enjoy any soda is with big scoops of vanilla ice cream. Let’s make some floats that are secretly healthy. No one will know with all that creamy, foamy, sweet goodness.
You can make this recipe as easy as possible with a store-bought ice cream. No judgments! There are quite a few vegan, dairy-free and/or naturally sweetened options out there that taste great (we like the SoDelicious brand!) If you’d like to keep things totally homemade, try our Vegan Vanilla Bean Ice Cream or our Traditional Vanilla Ice Cream. Both are creamy and flavorful. Both will be utterly refreshing in this healthy soda float!
Make it wonderful weekend!
UPDATE: Zevia has removed caramel coloring from their sodas to make them even more natural. The ginger root beer is now clear and won’t yield the same caramel color appearance but it still tastes great!
