I loved using rosewater last week for homemade Rose Macarons but today we’re going back to lavender! Lavender is incredible for edible treats and home care products. Lavender is in an inexpensive flower that is part of the mint family. There are over 40 types of lavender and they can be found all over the world, from Europe to Southeast Asia
Lavender adds delicious floral notes to desserts like Coconut Lavender Ice Cream and White Chocolate Lavender Shortbread Bars. But it is particularly wonderful in body products. This sugar scrub is a natural cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing product all in one easy recipe!
Skin care products have always been tricky for me. I have sensitive skin so over the years, I’ve become more picky about what I put on my skin. I’ve slowly cut out drugstore products and have turned to natural skin care items. I usually like to keep my skincare routine as simple but as natural as possible with pure olive oil as a moisturizer and a simple soap for cleansing. However simple you like to keep things, this homemade recipe is super easy to mix in bowl to have for a bit of extra pampering. I really love to treat myself skin once in a while and this lavender sugar scrub feels like the ultimate skin care treat!
This homemade scrub is full of naturally cleansing ingredients like almond meal and olive oil. I like to use olive oil on my skin because of the many health benefits. It’s naturally cleansing and leaves my skin feeling well hydrated and moisturized. It’s also gentle and doesn’t cause breakouts. The sugar and almond meal both act as a gentle exfoliate. When added with water, this scrub becomes a soft natural cleanser that can be used on your body, hands or face. You can even omit the almond meal for a coarser foot scrub! And it works well no matter how sensitive your skin is! The lavender infuses the scrub as the sugar dissolves for a true spa like product. I love how soft and smooth my skin feels from this simple cleanser every night. It’s fragrant and calming! It’s the perfect way to start or end your day.
Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup Organic Sugar
1/4 cup Almond Meal (avoid fine meal or almond flour. I like Trader Joe’s or Costco’s or grind my own)
1 Tablespoon Dried Lavender
6 Tablespoons Olive Oil or Grape Seed Oil, or more for a softer texture
Optional: 1-2 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and almond meal. Add the oil to the mixture and mix well until the scrub is well coated and moist. You can add a little more or little less oil to suite you preferred texture. This can be a more gentle, moisturizing scrub for your face with more oil. For a coarser foot scrub, replace almond meal for more sugar and decrease the oil. Store the scrub in an airtight container.

HI, I’m a new reader to your blog. I love your floral recipes you’d been posting! I like this sugar scrub, but why do you use raw sugar here instead of a more natural sweetener? Is sugar okay for the skin? Also where can I find honey powder? I want to make your lemon bars!

Hi Yvonne. Thank you for the comment! Yes, raw sugar is a less processed sugar and is great for skincare. Many estheticians use regular sugar on their faces and bodies as a natural exfoliate. It’s safe to use! Please take a look at this post for all answers about honey powder! Thank you! http://www.naturalsweetrecipes.com/all-about-powdered-honey/ Enjoy the lemon bars!
