Supreme Naturally Sweet Brownies

September 10, 2012

Now these are my kind of brownies. Thick, dense, fudgy, traditional chocolate brownies.

Supreme Naturally Sweetened Brownies

I don’t get tired of brownies. I mean, who does? I like baking them, smelling them, looking at them, eating them…. And I generally like taste testing them. Since I like adapting recipes for different flavors or dietary preferences, I taste test a lot. I’ve tried a few brownie recipes in my day and these ones just might be my all time favorite!

Sugar-Free Naturally Sweet Chocolate Brownies
In the past year of blogging, we’ve already shared  a couple brownie recipes. We’ve shared a vegan brownie recipe and very dense mint brownies. This recipe is a traditional recipe with eggs (four of them pack in protein!) and flour, BUT without butter or unhealthy oil. They are sweetened with coconut sugar for an incredible texture and chocolate, brown sugar flavor. If you’re going to try a new brownie recipe and want to make them in a healthier way, let it be this one! I think you’ll agree, they are supreme!

Supreme Naturally Sweet Brownies (dairy free)
Print Recipe  (Adapted from the Comfort of Cooking)

1 cup Coconut Oil
2 1/2 cups Coconut Sugar (or 2 cups Coconut Sugar and 1/2 cup Maple Sugar)
4 Large Eggs
2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
3/4 cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 cup Spelt Flour
1 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 cup Sugar Free Chocolate Chips

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a glass 7 by 11 or 9 by 9 baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together oil, coconut sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking powder. Whisk all ingredients until smooth. Gently stir in chocolate chips. Bake brownies for 30-40 minutes (depending on the size pan you use).
Let cool about 5 minutes before cutting and enjoy!

I agree with Eileen, it’s impossible to get bored or tired of brownies. So decadent and delicious. For a chocoholic like myself it’s undeniable. They will always have a special place in my heart. Love this version! Whole and refined junk free :)

I’m on the same brownie page as you – I can’t get enough of them and they’re definitely the one dessert that is sure to get me in trouble every. single. time. ;) Your brownies do look super moist and fudgey! Perfect! I like that you use spelt flour and would probably feel sliiiiightly less guilty going to town on these brownies! Hope you had a great weekend!
