You can tell we like to use pink salt very frequently in our recipes. Sea salt you’ve heard of… What is pink salt?
Here it is: pink salt is a special form of sea salt. It’s also known as Himalayan Salt, Himalayan Pink Salt, Hawaiian Salt, and probably other names! There are different sources for pink salt, hence the different names. Why distinguish the different forms of salt and bother with the fancy pink stuff?
Pink Salt 101
Pink salts are believed to be the purest form of salt available because they are sourced from the deepest, unpolluted salt deposits in the world. They are extracted in the most natural ways, such as solar evaporation or hand-mined. The salt is extracted without chemicals or harsh methods. These salts are the best quality and the most natural because they are unrefined and untreated.
Due to the sourcing methods and locations of sea salts, these salts are full of essential minerals, trace minerals and electrolytes. These are extremely valuable to our bodies. Regular table salt totally lacks these minerals. We don’t use pink sea salt to be pretentious or fancy – we use it to reap the health benefits from this mineral-rich ingredient. We love that sea salts are free of chemicals and additives.
White table salt often has sugar and toxic chemicals added to it. Without the minerals and electrolytes of sea salt, it’s just sodium chloride with unhealthy additives. A diet high in sodium is not healthy in general, but especially when it is high in salt that lacks any of the natural benefits of sea salt. Our society adds such an abundance of sodium to foods, considering the type of salt eaten on a regular basis can help you adapt a more natural, toxic-free lifestyle.
Pink sea salt is superior to white table salt in other ways.
Pink salts have a beautiful color, they can be used in face scrubs or bath soaks and taste simply amazing in all recipes! Pink salt adds an amazing robust flavor to foods and due to it’s strength, it’s usually best to use less! It’s high potency allows you to easily decrease your sodium intake while reaping the flavor.
Pink Sea Salt vs Sea Salt
You may not want to use pink salt in your baking and that is completely fine! We recommend using a good quality sea salt over white table salt due to the benefits. Good quality sea salts have the same health benefits as pink salt (only slightly less potent or containing less minerals). Sea salt is great in many recipes, and sometimes we choose white sea salt because it photographs really nicely or looks great for a particular recipe. Really, you can use any salt you like that fits your budget and taste! We have found sea salts to be worth it. You’ll notice a difference in your health and in the flavor of your culinary endeavors. Happy salt tasting!

I always use sea salt. I don’t use pink salt all the time, but always some kind of sea salt. Good stuff!
